Staying Cheap in Baguio at Mountain Spring Homes

June 03, 2019

You may had a bad experience in a hotel/apartment advertised as “cheap”. However, Mountain Spring Homes is not that dirty-cheap kind of place, but an apartment where you can sleep well and comfortably.

LOCATION: 3/5
Mountain Spring Homes is located at Lower P. Burgos, Baguio City. It’s not that far from Burnham Park and Session Road, however, you will need to take a jeepney or taxi if you’re going to the town proper. But the good thing is, this is located right beside the highway of Magsaysay Avenue. And as per our experience, there are always available jeepneys and taxis around the area. However, there isn’t much available around the place. There are no restaurants and just an eatery across the highway. On the positive note, the location’s pretty accessible if you’re okay taking jeepneys and taxis.

ROOM: 5/5
Although the location is a bit of a disadvantage, the room was definitely nice! Everything was sparkling clean, from the bed linens and blanket to the bathroom. The huge queen bed was soooo perfect for the (cuddle) Baguio weather. The quality of the bed was more than the price we paid (based on our comparison). It was so soft and comfortable that we even overslept! Also, be careful not to eat here as the linens are all-white.

The bathroom was really clean when we got there. Thankfully, there’s a heater available so taking a bath in Baguio won’t be a problem. It was also big enough to move around freely.

There’s a cable TV that works pretty well. Apparently, only an electric fan is provided. Although Baguio is chilly most of the day, it can still get relatively warm especially during afternoons. A mini-study desk is also placed near the half-body mirror. There’s a small cabinet beside it.

The only setback of this room is that it is quite small. Although it is really designed for two people, you’d still find it a bit tight than the usual hotel rooms. But hey, for the price we paid? This is already fine!
Breakfast: n/a :(
Unfortunately, breakfast is not provided. However, there’s an eatery on the first floor of the establishment where you can order a meal for P50. There are also nearby sari-sari stores across the highway.

Service: 5/5
From booking to checking out, the staff (Ms. Maya) was very accommodating and courteous. She was very responsive to our questions and requests. Very friendly too!

Overall verdict: 7/10
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly place and largely considers cleanliness, then we would recommend this. The place is accessible enough if you plan to tour Baguio with a car or taxi. However, if you’re gonna need a place that’s gonna be near to the town proper, then its location may be a problem. But if you just plan to stay in, since they have a fast and reliable wifi connection, then this might be the one you’re looking for.
