Baguio's Instagrammable Patch Cafe
May 27, 2019
More than just the usual tourist spots, Baguio is also known for its cozy and homelike cafés. With its usually chilly temperatures, a nice cup of hot (or cold) coffee is your best partner to get relaxed and composed. Although there are many cafés in Baguio, sometimes it’s hard to find a good spot where you can just chill or study. Especially the cafés in Session Road where there are always a bunch of people staying in for an hour or two. Good thing, we bumped into this very nice and instagrammable café that gave us the perfect cozy and mellow Baguio ambiance.
PATCH CAFE BAGUIO
Patch Café is located just beside SM Baguio along the top of Session Road. It is the in-house café of Bloomfield Hotel. If you’re staying or stayed in Bloomfield, then you know that it’s worth it to visit this cafe restaurant.
Upon entering in, we noticed that there were not-so-many people considering that it’s lunchtime. I think most of their customers are hotel guests, which is, of course, pretty convenient for them. I think I wouldn’t mind for it to be crowded too since the place is quite huge for a café. Aside from rice meals, they also have pastries that are priced reasonably. Would love to try their New York Cheesecake next time! (Menu at the end of the blog)
Patch Cafe gives you this Bohemian or Boho-chic look with its unique aesthetics. With the design of its pillows, fabrics, and pieces of furniture, it creates a very welcoming look to just stay and chill. It tells you to just do whatever you want– read a book, study Chemistry, or laugh with your friends. I love how their chairs are so comfortable to sit with. This café is also complete with a fast wifi connection and few sockets on the side, enough for those who need to use their laptops to do work or study.
Since we came for lunch, we ordered two rice meals. We had their Sisig Bowl and Chicken Tonkatsu. Surprisingly enough, these meals are part of their Lunch Ricebowls which are available from 11am to 2pm daily. These rice bowls are affordably priced for only 99 pesos! And yes, it was worth it. I love how they managed to have well-cooked Pinoy sisig in a café. The pork sisig wasn’t something to boast for but it definitely tasted good. The Chicken Tonkatsu, however, is something to rave out for! It was really flavourful and was beautifully balanced with cheese. These rice bowls are surely a bang for your buck!
We also ordered a small cup of Cappuccino and Cheesecake Milkshake. The Cappuccino was so-so. It was enough for my liking. The milkshake, however, was delicious! You know how milkshakes sometimes just taste bland because of too much ice or water? This one isn’t It really tastes like a cheesecake transformed into a milkshake. Loved it!
Overall verdict: 9/10
Patch Café exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t even expensive and everything is reasonably priced (especially their rice bowls!). The ambiance was very Baguio-ish with the welcoming people and its laid-back design. This place is perfect for students who need to study (just sit where the sockets are located) and also for people who just wants to chill and feel that they’re in a Baguio coffee shop. Recommended!
